This condo apartment was designed for a couple who has a deep appreciation for arts together with their well-loved rabbits. Calligraphy, Japanese-inspired shoji doors and elements of rattan in the carpentry give the house character of artistic craftsmanship. The walkway is clad with wood carpentry with displays of Japanese dolls – a collection of the homeowners. At the main entrance, a specially-designed calligraphy display was built as a trademark to the artistic house so that the homeowners can display their different artistic works.
The play of LED lighting in the house is consistent with the lighting of religious figures in the home, where unconventionally different religions take stages harmoniously. The wall of bedroom 3 was removed to allow a workspace that is connected to the iving room. This encourages interaction in the era of frequent work-from-home. The table separating the living and study not nly serves as a place for study or calligraphy, but a multifunctional space where the homeowners can have a meal while watching TV.
Storage optimization is also a feature in this house, where cabinets replaced walls between the study area along the walkways. Similarly, in the master bedroom, cabinetry was used to demarcate the sleeping and dressing area while creating more storage. To create unique spaces for the homeowner’s rabbits that freely roam in the house, spaces were crafted in the carpentry as hiding spots. Paw-prints designs not only serve as a design feature but as handle designs and ventilation to the carpentry, that brightens up the design of the home.
A platform was built at an unconventional place, the balcony, surprisingly offering a functional and windy space for
tea-drinking, scenery viewing and relaxation. Here’s the beauty of it all: A comfortable and beautiful space with character
inspired by an inner love for artistic expression.
