“The whole renovation journey was relatively fuss free and the transformation was amazing.”

— Angeline & Glen

Glen and Angeline live with their two children in a 147 sqm HDB Executive Maisonette. They wanted a warm, minimalist home with a Scandinavian feel — light wood tones, soft whites, and practical comfort.

The kitchen was transformed into an open-concept space with a long island, perfect for daily use and family time. The high-ceiling living room, extended with full-height windows, became Glen’s favorite spot to relax and watch the stars.

Delivered on time, this home was a complete transformation — functional, personal, and filled with heart.

We recently had the pleasure working with Shian & Jerrold from Urban Home Design for our 4 room resale flat renovation journey.

The entire renovation process was seamless and efficient. They communicated every step of the way, keeping us informed and involved without overwhelming us. We’re very satisfied with Una’s work on our recent home renovation. She exceeded our expectations from the beginning.

With the same criteria given to all the IDs we met, Una was the only one who hit the mark. She came to our first meeting with two proposals based on the questionnaire completed.

Una’s dedication showed through her openness to explore new ideas and create something unique with us. As a visual person, I really appreciated how she translated our thoughts into drawings—even if they weren’t used eventually- just so we could visualize the effect. She also offered helpful suggestions for furniture and soft furnishings to ensure everything came together cohesively.

Despite my indecisiveness, Una was always patient with changes and helped narrow choices down to 2–3 options, making decisions much easier. She balanced well between my husband’s need for functionality and my desire for aesthetics.

Una was proactive on-site and reliable in all communications. Each milestone was met on time, and the project was completed as scheduled. We also appreciated her prompt responses and how she always provided alternative solutions to issues faced. A big plus!

Thank you so much Una, for transforming our home into such a warm and cozy space!

Designer Justin

We engaged urban home design on recommendation from a relative, and we were pleased with the final product.

Justin and team were very patient throughout the design process, and he was conscientious in searching online for sample pictures and ideas to flesh out the vague ideas that we initially had. The actual renovation phase was also relatively smooth, and we were happy with the quality of the carpentry. There were some electrical hiccups along the way, but they were resolved in a satisfactory way.

Overall, I would strongly recommend Justin and his firm to anyone looking to renovate their home.

Just finished doing our home reno with Urban Home Design specifically with ID Justin Tham.

While as expected there were some hiccups and slight delay in timeline, due to Xmas and CNY holidays,

we were finally done and quite happy with the result! Thanks Urban Home for making our new condo homey!

Overall, both Urban Home and Justin have been very accommodating, flexible and responsible – even after the reno is done, they do not hesitate and come to help me rectify some errors (eg. Arranging vendors to come and fix wallpaper, helping us installing some hooks/ shelf)

Thanks so much! All the best for both of u!

Designer Jerrold, Vincent Ng, Cia Wei

We engaged Jerrold, Vincent, and Cia Wei to design and renovate our home, and looking back, we truly couldn’t have asked for a better team to bring our vision to life.

From the very first meeting, they impressed us with their professionalism, clarity, and genuine passion for creating homes that are not only beautiful, but also deeply personal and livable.

One of our biggest concerns from the outset was our tight renovation schedule. We had very limited time to complete the entire project due to personal commitments, and we knew it was going to be a challenging feat. But Jerrold, Vincent, and Cia Wei took this challenge head-on—and delivered everything they promised, on time, without cutting corners. In fact, they exceeded our expectations in more ways than one.

Jerrold was the anchor of the project—his strong project management skills and calm leadership gave us tremendous peace of mind. He was always on top of every detail, constantly coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and specialists to make sure the timeline was met. Despite the pressures of a fast-paced schedule, there was never a moment where things felt rushed or compromised. His ability to anticipate issues before they happened and resolve them swiftly was nothing short of incredible.

Vincent’s creative direction brought our dream home to life in ways we never imagined. Every design decision was thoughtful—from the layout planning to the selection of finishes, textures, and lighting. He paid close attention to how we live day-to-day and designed spaces that are both aesthetically stunning and incredibly functional. Even with time constraints, he maintained a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that really shows in every corner of our home.

Cia Wei added the emotional soul to the entire experience. She has a natural gift for understanding people—not just what they say, but what they feel. She was our sounding board, our style therapist, and our biggest cheerleader throughout the journey. Her styling and finishing touches gave the home its warmth and personality. She never once let the speed of the project take away from the thoughtfulness of the design.

What we appreciated most was the seamless collaboration and communication among the team. They worked as one unit, always transparent, responsive, and genuinely committed to doing their best for us. Despite the pressure of a tight timeline, the entire process was smooth, respectful, and even enjoyable. We never felt stressed—we felt supported.

Today, we wake up every day in a home that feels not only beautiful, but truly ours. Every detail reflects who we are and how we live. We are so thankful to Jerrold, Vincent, and Cia Wei for making this possible—and for proving that with the right team, even the most challenging deadlines can be met with excellence.

If you’re looking for a team that delivers on their promises, respects your time, and pours their heart into creating a home that’s meaningful to you, we cannot recommend them enough. They are absolute gems in the design world.

5Rm at Hougang area. Age of this HDB flat built in 1985.

This is a long due review since I had moved into the house 4months ago.

Why I had chosen Urban Home Design. Key facts –

1. Commitment – When Urban Home Design assigned a team for that project, this team will follow thru the whole project.

2. Integrity – Urban Home ensure all clients acknowledge and endorse every document from designing stage to select of tiles, colors, materials etc., to final handle over the house to clients.

3. Urban has in-house carpenter and electrical team.

My home was assigned to Jerrold and Wesley. Due to my work schedule, either I have to cancel meeting, change to later timing, or having discussion till very late in the evening.

Both Jerrold and Wesley are tirelessly sharing their thoughts and take note of the important points. I would like to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to Jerrold, Wesley, In-house carpenter team and electrical team for their commitment, patience, design ideas and many more.

Surely, if my request always merely impossible meet, but Jerrold and Wesley will always counter propose something near to my impossible request or explain why that cannot be done. I saw their professional and integrity. Truly, I appreciate it very much. Once again, Thank you to Jerrold and Wesley. Regards, Jacqueline.

James is a dedicated designer who has helped us build our home. He is always responsive and willing to go the extra mile to help with our requests.

He gave us rough layout proposals at our first meeting and then followed up with detailed 3D rendering soon after! He took our input and requirements along the way and incorporated them well in the final design. The apartment turned out better than we imagined it to be. I would highly recommend him for anyone who is looking for a designer!

Designer Ken Wong & Shian Wong

We shortlisted Urban Home Design after seeing their beautiful and stylish homes which suit our theme. We were asked to fill up a questionnaire shortly after sending in our enquiry.

The first meeting was a pleasant surprise. Ken and Shian, based on the info collected, showed us their proposal and some 3D illustrations. This is in contrast to other IDs, whose first meetups are usually info collection. Urban definitely helped to save us some time.

We eventually selected Urban as we loved their proposed layout and design, and the quotation was reasonable. We did not regret our choice.

The amount of renovation work to our unit was extensive. We are grateful to the experienced Urban team who helped to identify and fix the many defects in our old unit. As per many big projects, there were some hiccups. Urban was able to quickly resolve the issues and met our deadline with little cutback on quality.

The final product is our warm and cozy new home. The Urban team pretty much nailed our brief to them. We are pleased with their work and will not hesitate to recommend to our friends.

It has been an absolute pleasure to have Daphne as our interior designer, and we cannot express enough how grateful we are for her incredible work.

She truly understood our vision and translated it into a beautifully designed space that exceeded all expectations. The attention to detail, the thoughtful use of color, textures, and furniture — everything was perfectly executed.

What we appreciated most was Daphne’s ability to quickly absorb our vision and translate it into a design was impressive. Every detail was carefully implemented, and she ensured that the project was completed on time without compromising quality. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to meeting the delivery timeline made the entire process seamless and stress-free.

Thank you, Daphne, for your expertise, creativity, and dedication. We were so happy with the result! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a true professional who can bring their design dreams to life.

Designer James

We are very happy and excited with the renovation work on our HDB resale unit done by James!

From the very beginning, we interviewed 7 interior designers in total, but James stood out. Before the first meeting, he sent us an email asking about our preferences, lifestyle, and details about our unit. We also shared pinterest boards on our design vision. On the first meeting, he already came up with proposals of the designs, based on our answers. When we discuss about the proposal, he immediately changed the design on the spot. On the subsequent meetings, he also provided us with a 3d model, which made it easier for us to visualize the design down to the measurements. I think James’ prowess on operating the modeling app stood out to me. All of the other IDs that we interviewed with only did 2D drawings. Most of them even only drew with pen and paper.

Given his skills and the branding of Urban Home, we expected that the quote would be exorbitant. In actuality, I think it was somewhat similar to other IDs in total, and even slightly cheaper when we compare them item to item. I appreciate the transparency that there is a design fee in the quote, while it seemed to me that other ID made more profits of hidden costs. I also appreciate that James was never pushy in proposing items that would go over the budget. He just let us know the options and the quote for each item. He also suggested some tips to reduce the cost, such as buying loose items instead of built-in for less prioritized furnitures, like vanity, bed frame, or shoe rack.

After we signed the contract, James immediately got to work and proposed an estimate of the timeline. He accompanied us to do shoppings for tiles, bathroom, kitchen, lighting, and electronic appliances. As first time homeowners and as people with little design sense, we were clueless. James happily chimed in when we asked about his opinion, providing the pros and cons of different options. Especially when choosing tiles, we wouldn’t be able to tell the differences and pick them ourselves. He helped shortlisted a few that he thought would fit the theme and let us make the final call. He also helped us visualize how they would look like in our home, by adding the tile designs into the 3d model. He proposed various tile combinations for kitchen and bathrooms. All of them were pretty and I almost couldn’t choose!

During the renovation process, James was also managing the contractors. He planned the schedule with buffers, such that even when there were unforeseen circumstances, the renovation could still finish within the promised timeline (3 months). James also frequently updated us about the progress. We added some last minute items during the renovation, such as boxing up aircon pipes with tiles and adding light dimmer. All of these were managed swiftly by James.

We have been living for some time in our new home and we are very happy with it. Our friends and family who visited our new home were also raving about how pretty and well designed the house is. The design was exactly as James visualized in the 3d model, if not even prettier! There are some minor improvements that needed to be done, like carpentry and paint touch up, some ceiling and plumbing cleanups, and tile repair. They were all managed promptly by James and the contractors were quick and professional.

After working with James for half a year now, we can say that we genuinely like him professionally and personally. We like that he is very responsive on chats and a good texter. Also, since he is good with the 3d model tools and with his presentations, all meetings were efficient and we were able to came to decisions very quickly. We also appreciate that he’s very understanding with us and our newborn baby. During meetings, I can feel that he is deeply passionate about his work. He was excited about our visions of having a pastel home and always propose fresh ideas to fit the theme. I think we had lots of fun designing our home with James, which could otherwise be a tedious process if done with a different ID! Thank you James for your hard work!

Designer Chai Hwa and Vicky

I am absolutely thrilled with the outstanding work done by Chai Hwa and Vicky on my condo unit.

From the initial planning stages to the final execution, they showed their creativity, and collaborative approach and this made the entire process seamless and enjoyable.

The team demonstrated remarkable attention to detail during the planning phase. They took the time to understand my lifestyle, preferences, and vision, translating my ideas into a cohesive design plan. Their ability to balance functionality with aesthetics ensured every corner of my apartment was optimized for both comfort and style.

Their creative ideas truly set them apart. They introduced fresh, innovative concepts I hadn’t considered—like clever storage solutions, and a mix of textures that added depth to the space. Their sketchup drawings brought the vision to life early on, making it easy to trust their expertise.

The execution was impeccable. They stayed on schedule, managed suppliers and subcontractors efficiently, and maintained clear communication throughout. Every finish, from the custom cabinetry to the lighting fixtures, was handled with care and precision. I appreciated their proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring no detail was overlooked.

What stood out most was their genuine collaboration. They listened patiently, incorporated my feedback, and kept me involved at every step. Their transparency and enthusiasm made decision-making stress-free, and it felt like a true partnership.

From the initial stage up till delivery, I’ve been very pleased with Sin Hui’s attention to details.

Even before I signed, she displayed high level of attentiveness and professionalism. This and also how she was able to relate to my needs, won me over. During the renovation, everything was as we had discussed. It was assuring that nothing was decided without our agreement. She was meticulous and helped ensure defects were kept low. Many times, any issues were remedied even before I had to point it out to her. Renovation can be a nightmare, but I am very glad to have engaged Sin Hui, who has built me a beautiful place to call home.

We recently completed a full home renovation with Urban Home Design and overall, we are quite satisfied with the results.

The quality of workmanship was impressive, and the final outcome met our expectations. Every detail was well-executed, and the materials used were of good quality.

What stood out was the 3D rendering that was shown during our first meet-up. It enable us to conceptualise what our home will look like. The design also kind of “wow” us which makes them clearly the preferred choice for us.

Communication throughout the process was decent, though there were moments when updates could have been clearer. The project took longer than initially expected, and while the delays weren’t excessive, we feel the timelines could have been managed better. The pricing was on the higher side, but given the quality of work, it was a reasonable trade-off.

Despite some minor setbacks, we appreciate the effort the team put into transforming our home. If you’re looking for good craftsmanship and don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, Urban Home Design is a solid choice. Thank you for making our renovation and dream home a reality!

Designer Monica Peng

After meeting multiple interior designers, we settled with Monica from Urban Home Design as we seems to click and also she showed me how her previous

renovation projects are planned and I’m impressed with the meticulous details that’s goes into each renovation project plan.

During the renovation planning phase, she spent many and long hours with us to come out with what we had in mind for our new house. One thing that I’m particularly impressed is she will draw the 3D dimensions on the spot as we are discussing to help us visualize and understand if for example, this furniture or appliances that we want can fit into the space given.

She also have a good eye for good color coordination/style and help us to decide if this color of furniture will fit into our overall house design.

Urban Home Design’s quality for carpentry, tiling, etc are top notch. I’m glad that we engaged Monica from Urban Home Design as we are really impressed with their quality and our new house is like what we have design.

We had the pleasure of working with Monica from Urban Home Design on our home renovation, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience.

From the start, it was clear that she had a strong design sense and a keen eye for detail. She didn’t just present ideas that looked good on paper—she considered functionality, practicality, and how the space would work for us in the long run.

One of the things we really appreciated was how hands-on she was throughout the entire process. She was actively involved, checking in regularly, addressing concerns, and making adjustments when needed. If there were any issues, she was quick to communicate them and always had a backup plan or alternative solution ready. It made the whole process feel a lot less stressful, knowing that she was on top of things.

Another standout aspect of working with Monica was her transparency. She was upfront about the pros and cons of different design choices, which helped us make informed decisions rather than just going with what looked best.

The 3D design software (SketchUp) used during the entire design process was very useful, allowing us to clearly visualize how everything would come together before committing to anything, which saved us from potential regrets.

Overall, Monica was fantastic to work with—professional, communicative, and genuinely invested in creating a space that worked for us. If you’re looking for a designer who goes beyond just aesthetics and truly considers your needs, we highly recommend her.

Designer Monica Peng

We recently worked with Monica Peng of Urban Home Design to renovate our new BTO flat, aiming for cozy vibes and minimalistic look while maximising the space’s functionality.

From the start, Monica was attentive to our ideas and preferences, offering suggestions that blended our style with her professional expertise. She was highly responsive to our messages and always answered our questions, making the entire process smooth and stress-free.

During the designing stage, Monica was able to turn what we envision in our mind into 3D drawings during our meetings, which helped us a lot as we were able to visualize our idea. It really helped us in deciding whether our ideas are feasible in the space available. When our ideas did not work, she would provide us with creative design solutions that incorporate both functionality and style.

Here are some of the design features we did:

1) Drop down Foyer: We overlay the whole house and managed to get a 2cm drop down area for foyer. Monica suggested to do a curve area and we absolutely loved it. We are in awe of the level of the attention to details – all the grout lines line up throughout the house even though the foyer tiles and whole house tiles are different sizes (300*600mm and 600*600mm respectively). Amazing work! 1) Kitchen door: Intially we did not want to have a kitchen door due to the lack of space, we decided to put one but we were stumped as there is not enough space for a full sliding door and we did not want to put casement door. Monica managed to solve our concern with bifold sliding door! Yay!

2) Kitchen cabinets: We decided to installed Blum Servo Drive and Monica recommended to go for a two-tier style instead of full depth for a modern look and better functionality. 👍🏻

3) Bathrooms: We did not want to have doors but we do want a dry/wet area separation to protect our carpentry, Monica suggested to add glass panels with a curve on top that adds a touch of style.

4)Master Bedroom: Initial idea was a single 3-door wardrobe, however upon the 3D drawing drawn by Monica, we realised the space would not be enough for the both of us, hence Monica suggested a L-shaped wardrobe with a niche as a bedside table. During the discussion, we realised we needed another built in side table with LED lights and Monica came up with the idea of having a built in headboard with LED lights for the cozy vibes and to cover up the lighting wires. (In hindsight, we are really glad we took up Monica’s suggestion!)

5)Tiles and Laminate: Monica has an incredible eye for design, she helped us match the different shades of grey that best suit our space and style as well as picking out the wooden patterned laminate that we used throughout the whole house. We love the look and feel of them, it really ties the whole place together, blending the color and textures perfectly.

Overall, we are beyond pleased with the transformation. Our house feels both functional and stylish, and we now enjoy spending time in the house that perfectly aligns with our personal taste. The renovations has made our home feel more welcoming.

We would highly recommend Monica Peng to anyone looking for an interior designer who combines creativity with professionalism. Her ability to understand and execute the vision for our space was truly exceptional.

Designer Jess Fu

I recently completed a renovation of my 36-year-old, 88-sqm HDB 4-room flat, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Every morning, I wake up feeling incredibly grateful and joyful in my newly transformed space.

It was a journey that began by meeting around 10 different IDs. From there, I shortlisted 4, visited 3 newly completed houses to check on workmanship, and ultimately decided on Jess, who impressed me with her professionalism, creativity, and excellent management skills.

From the very start, Jess and I spent countless hours shaping every inch of my future dream home. In fact, each time we met during the design stage, we would chat for 3-6 hours, going over every little detail—right down to the selection of glass, vinyl, height of cabinet, corners, and color palettes. Her willingness to dive into the nitty-gritty and patiently brainstorm all possibilities with me was both reassuring and exciting.

My desired aesthetic was Japandi—a fusion of Scandinavian simplicity and Japanese elegance. Jess brought this concept to life beautifully. We decided on curved cabinetry that flows seamlessly from the kitchen into the living area and extends to form a stylish dining table. This curve design is one of my favorite features—it adds a unique, organic touch while maximizing space. We also slightly reduced the guest room to create a more spacious dining area, and since older HDB flats typically have large rooms, the adjustment still left more than enough comfort for guests. Another standout element is the full open, foldable window in the living area. Whenever friends come over, I can open up the window entirely for a breezy, welcoming ambiance.

Because I’m a big believer in craftsmanship, I was delighted to learn that Jess works with a team of carpenters skilled in creating Japandi-inspired furniture and cabinetry. Their attention to detail and overall workmanship were top-notch. If you’re considering a Japandi style, I highly recommend selecting an ID who has ample experience with this aesthetic, as well as carpenters who truly understand it.

When it came to selecting materials, Jess’s experience was invaluable. We chose bigger tiles for the bathroom walls and floors, giving them a modern, cohesive look. The tile selection was spot on, and the overall effect is nothing short of stunning. I was initially a bit hesitant about the cement-finish laminate she suggested for some surfaces, since I tend to favor plain colors. However, I’m thrilled we took the leap—these laminates turned out to be a delightful surprise, adding texture and a contemporary vibe without overwhelming the space. The colors, tiles, and laminates all work in harmony, thanks to her keen eye for design.

On the practical side, both the electrical and plumbing work were handled extremely well. Even after handover, Jess’s team was quick to respond to minor touch-ups, making sure everything was perfect. My only small regret is not installing two-way lighting in the master bedroom, because now I have to get out of bed to switch off the lights lol. Nevertheless, this doesn’t diminish my overall satisfaction with the renovation.

What truly made this renovation experience exceptional was Jess’s commitment and dedication, especially since I was overseas for most of the 2.5-month renovation period. She took care of any issues that arose, whether it involved coordinating with suppliers or dealing with contractors and even neighbors, without stressing me out. I would visit the flat about once a week during the initial and final stages of the renovation, and each time, I was thrilled to see the progress.

Jess, who is originally from Malacca, has a keen eye for aesthetics and a natural flair for modeling and design execution. She may come across as cool and reserved at first, but that’s simply because she’s focused on her work and prefers to speak through her actions. She genuinely listens to client feedback and remembers every detail you mention.

Overall, I highly recommend Jess if you’re looking to renovate your home, especially if you want a sleek, Japandi-inspired style. The entire experience was smooth, rewarding, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Designer Jerrold and Shian

We were randomly allocated Urban Home Design as part of the Qanvast shortlisting. Before we even met our IDs, they had already approached us to find out more about our requirements and other needs.

On our first meeting, they had already set expectations on how they will manage the entire project. Furthermore they gave us a tour on their materials used and showed us past projects.

During the entire process, they walked us through everything, they had a checklist of things to settle to ensure that everything was completed on track. Jerrold and Shian were also not pushy about suggesting any materials, instead they listened to what we wanted and planned accordingly.

As our IDs, Jerrold and Shian coordinated everything smoothly. Throughout the entire renovation phase, they gave us timely updates of the renovation process with pictures. They also gave us their opinions if certain changes had to be made due to site constraints.

Overall, working with them has been a breeze. I could “hands-off” the entire project without worrying because they managed the project so efficiently. The results were worth it!

Designer Xyden and Jorylnn

As someone who values both practicality and aesthetics, I can confidently say that working with Xyden and Jorlynn was one of the best decisions we made for our home renovation

Xyden carefully listened to all our requirements and incorporated them into the design. He also helped us save costs by recommending which features, such as the false ceiling and flooring, could be retained without compromising the overall look.

Both Jorlynn and Xyden are experienced professionals who used their expertise to transform our space into something that feels more open, functional, and well thought out. Their design not only made the unit feel bigger but also significantly enhanced its usability. The custom-built cabinets are not only functional but also beautifully crafted.

With our busy schedules and frequent business trips, we couldn’t have managed the renovation without their support. They coordinated everything with their contractors and kept the process running smoothly, which gave us peace of mind.

I should also mention how much my wife appreciated Jorlynn’s guidance. She sometimes finds it challenging to make design decisions, but Jorlynn’s suggestions often resonated with her. The color palette, in particular, was spot-on and perfectly complemented the space.

If you’re looking for designers who are skilled, resourceful, and attentive to your needs, I’d highly recommend Xyden, Jorlynn, and the Urban Home Design team.

Designer Xyden and Jorlynn

We had a fantastic experience working with Jorlynn and Xyden for our first renovation in Singapore. After contacting several interior design companies, they stood out as the most responsive and professional.

During our initial meeting, Jorlynn and Xyden came prepared with a draft floor plan and shared plenty of creative ideas. Their transparency about costs and terms right from the start made the entire process straightforward.

Their guidance was invaluable, especially when it came to selecting the color scheme and tiles. They helped us make some tough decisions with confidence, and their expertise really shone through.

The renovation took three months, and Jorlynn walked us through every stage in detail, ensuring we always knew what to expect. She was extremely patient and prompt in addressing all our questions, which made us feel well-supported throughout.

With their coordination of their contractors—who were all kind and efficient—the process went smoothly from start to finish and the project was kept within our budget and timeline. We are very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Jorlynn, Xyden, and the Urban Home Design team to anyone looking for reliable and talented interior designers.

Designer Amber Yan Lin

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with the amazing team at Urban Home Design, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience!

Amber, our interior designer, was an absolute gem throughout the process of creating our first beautiful home. She is thoughtful, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and incredibly supportive of our ideas without being pushy.

Amber was always open to our opinions and worked efficiently to bring our vision to life. Over the past nine months, we built a strong connection and trust with her, enjoying fun conversations, careful planning, and exciting renovations along the way.

We are beyond happy with how our home turned out and were especially grateful for the timely handover. Not only were we thrilled with the final result, but we were also impressed by the work of the contractors. They were incredibly considerate, ensuring the house was future-proof and took great care in making sure everything was perfectly in place.

Both Amber and her team were highly professional and offered valuable advice throughout. We wholeheartedly recommend Urban Home Design, you won’t be disappointed with their service!

Designer Edwin and Chi Fong

I needed a full renovation for my 3-room HDB which was about 45 years old (Living room, bedrooms, kitchen, toilets, and windows/doors). The interior was old and did not fit my lifestyle.

I met 3 Interior Designers before I settled for Urban Home Design. I chose them for a few reasons. 1. They prepared well for the first meeting. 2. They were able to meet my intended budget. 3. They showed me one of their actual completed work before the first meeting. 4. They were quite friendly.

Before the first meeting, I filled up a questionnaire for a background understanding of the intended design. This is for them to understand my wants and needs. They used the information to prepare ahead of the meeting.

My experience with Chi Fong and Edwin had been great. During the first meeting, they were ready to present some ideas. They had some design concepts done in 3D which helped me decide if the direction was correct. That is like the reference design. And then more details were added in the subsequent meetings. Changes were on the spot and corrected in the drawings.

Their overall service was good. They were responsive to my queries and would listen to my inputs. I think the exciting part was the planning phase where we would brainstorm and put ideas into the drawings. They provided guidance from the materials selection for the kitchen countertop, to the floor tiles, and the colors for the painted walls. I generally take advice from them. Some decisions I took more ownership – the location of electrical points, kitchen layout, and bathroom layout. The planning was quite smooth as I had a simple design for my living room, bedroom, and toilet. I spent more time with the design of my kitchen. They were patient and made changes according to my needs.

At any point during the planning, I could request a quotation review to check if I am over the budget. The quotations were itemized. We would run through them in detail. The design and electrical are separated. You may asked to review both at the later stage of the design. Changes were always possible.

The project management was good. The planning days were well spaced out. I was not in a rush during the planning phase. We went to purchase the toilet wares, the lights, and the tiles together.

The actual renovation took about 3 months (2.5 months was the projection). I got updates from Edwin periodically through WA. Edwin would help me coordinate with the supplier for aircon, toilet hardware, and lights for in-time delivery. That helped me to focus on my work. I did not visit the house until after the carpentry was almost done. Edwin got the contractor to correct the installation of the wall lamp, reworked the cabinet for a minor defect, and minor touchup in the bedroom.

I feel the workmanship for the cabinets was good. The soft-closing was well done. They are wood-based with laminates. It felt robust and sturdy.

Some minor flaws were visible residual stain marks on the cabinet, countertop, tiles, and some toilet accessories. They were not easy to spot initially. I felt the quality checks could be improved further. I had not noticed them before and during the handover.

Overall, I am pleased with the outcome of the renovation. Being my first time doing the renovation, I had doubts but they were patient to explain and stated their opinions clearly. I learned a lot from them.

I am grateful to Qanvast for allowing me to find Urban Home Design, and work with Chi Fong and Edwin on my new house.

Designer Amber Yan Lin

We had the best experience with Urban Home Design, all thanks to Amber! Meeting Amber approximately nine months ago was a stroke of luck, as finding the right ID who clicked with both my wife and me wasn’t an easy task.

We’re so glad we found her.

The entire journey with Amber was absolutely smooth. She was incredibly detailed, meticulous, and brought her wealth of experience and insights to improve our home planning. Her suggestions were thoughtful and elevated the final outcome of our renovation.

Amber also has an excellent relationship with her contractors, which made the process seamless. She was always responsive and hands-on, ensuring everything—from hacking to carpentry and electrical work—was executed perfectly. The contractors she worked with were equally impressive and thoughtful, paying close attention to small details like analyzing our carpentry to make sure it was future-proof.

Her commitment to credibility and trust is truly rare in this industry. Amber made the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. As someone who is very detail-oriented myself, I was thoroughly impressed by her work ethic, professionalism, and dedication to perfection.

If you’re looking for someone who is meticulous, detail-oriented, and trustworthy, Amber is the one you need. I have absolutely no regrets choosing her and would gladly vouch for her skills and dedication. Feel free to message or email me if you’d like more information!

We initially shortlisted urban home design as the past projects listed was close to our styles. After meeting Amber we felt that she is very skilled in 2D/3D plans and meticulous and paying attention to details.

She been very helpful and responsive during the renovation, suggesting alternative ideas to match the overall theme, and also went extra miles to help us match some off the rack furnishing with the overall theme in the house :>

There were some hiccups/small miscommunications during the Reno but Amber is quick to explain/response.

Would recommend her for home owners who has a good idea of your needs and wants, like to co-develop the theme and designs, and she would def deliver your dream home. 🫶🏻

Designer Sin Hui

Sin Hui was very thorough in going through the design process step by step. She also gave some helpful input for both design and practicality when planning the layout of our house.

She actively responded to our questions and kept us up to date with the progress of the work being done. Sin Hui was also very helpful in sourcing for things we needed in the house such as tiles, furniture and lighting.

Designer Chifung

We first reached out to Chifung and Urban Home Design back in Dec 2023. From the get go, Chifung understood what it was we were looking for and was able to propose designs that we happy with.

As the design phase continued, we often had changes and tweaks to the designs that Chifung was always happy to accomodate, often on the spot so we could visualise our new ideas immediately.

During the discussion for all the nitty gritty details, we were often faced with decision paralysis as new homeowners as there were often too many choices at times. Chifung’s experience and eye for design helped us a lot here as he was able to recommend and shortlist the best options for us so we had an easier time making the decision. Even after long 3-4h discussion sessions, he was still extremely patient and helpful to us. He even took the time to join us on shopping trips to give us advice when we requested him to.

When the renovation started in early Sept 2024, Chifung gave us a project schedule and a target handover date in Dec 2024. We expected there to be hiccups and delays, but were pleasantly surprised when everything was completed on schedule. Chifung gave us regular updates to help ease our worries and even took the initiative to help us liaise directly with some external vendors that we contacted (lighting, sanitary wares, curtains), to arrange the deliveries for everything to ensure that everything was on schedule. Post-handover, Chifung was still helping us to arrange for the contractors to fix all the little issues that we faced.

Overall, we had an extremely pleasant experience engaging Urban Home Design and Chifung to help us design and renovate our first home and we would absolutely recommend them to others who are looking for an ID firm

We are very lucky to have gotten Chifung as our ID 😊 From our very first meeting we knew that our aesthetics preferences matched and we vibed well, and it only got better from there.

Chifung was able to guide us new homeowners with his past experience with patience and without judgement, so much so we grew to really trust his advice and recommendations (and they really paid off, no regrets 😄).

Chifung is also exceptionally professional. He always replied quickly to our never ending spam of questions and helped ease our minds with clear explanations and pics.

His project management skills continue to amaze us to this day too – we were certain that the reno timeline will drag on, but everything was done punctually, sometimes even earlier than expected, and so we got our apartment back on the exact day we hoped to.

As first time homeowners, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience especially after embarking on this journey with so much fear and trepidation from all the industry horror stories. Working with Chifung and UHD allowed us to enjoy the process of watching our dream home come to life, knowing that we are in good hands.

Thank you guys so so much and we won’t hesitate to recommend UHD to anyone who asks ❤️!

Designer Sin Hui & Chi Fung

Completed our 5RM resale reno with Sin hui & Chi Fung. Came across reviews on Qanvast and google, and decided to shortlist them amongst a few IDs (including our prev ID we engaged 5 years ago and we like).

If we had to do it all over again, would we engage them? Yes, and here’s why.

1. Detailed planning We liked how they were very prepared for our FIRST meeting, even before we signed them on. 3D layout was sketched in Autocad, and we were able to visualize our home on the spot. Reno timeline and plans were detailed and as a busy family we felt assured that the project will be well managed. Confidence was built before we signed our project.

2. Quality execution Project was executed well, kept to Reno timelines, workmanship was good, and our home turned out exactly how we hope for. In terms of overall design, color matching, we are very pleased. In some areas we needed rectification, they did not hesitate to do so. Along the way, our IDs helped to coordinate with certain contractors we used (not theirs), helped to receive delivery of some big items, and overall performed the role of project managers very well.

3. Client focus, good communication To expect any major Reno to go without any hiccups would be naive. What’s most important is that IDs were there and acted on what is right for the client. We had no major hiccups, but I believe even if we did, the IDs and UHD would take responsibility (within reason of course). Sin Hui & Chi Fung were accountable for the project throughout our process, and communicated with us timely and clearly. No beat around the bush, no BS. Explained patiently when I had questions and expectations.

On top of everything I’ve said: both were friendly, professional, patient, and reliable. Talk to them and see if they could be your ID of choice for your project!

Designer Chifung

Thank you to Chifung and his team for bringing our dream home to life, we are extremely happy with how well the renovation went!

When we visited Urban Home for our first consultation, Chifong presented a few ideas based on the questionnaire we filled up beforehand. We really liked the layout he proposed and decided to continue working with him for our renovation.

Throughout the 2 months of planning and 3 months of renovations, Chifong guided us through the entire process and gave us lots of good feedback and thoughts on our ideas. He constantly updated our 3D house layout to give us a clear picture and visualisation.

I especially want to commend his excellent project management in keeping the works done on time, keeping the house neat and organised during the renovation, and keeping clear and prompt communication with us. He accommodated our every little tweaks along the way while still following very closely to the timeline.

Overall we are very pleased with our renovation. The only issue we faced is that we felt the workmanship of the carpentry could be slightly better. The exterior looks great, but the interior and shelves could be a bit more polished.

But we really loved every feature of the house, from the island kitchen counter, the lovely cove lighting, the curved division of the kitchen and living room floor, and best of all the rotating TV console which serves both the dining and living area.

I believe we can say that we don’t have a single regret choosing Urban Home, and Chifong did a superb job of bringing our dream home to life!

Designer Chai Hwa

During our search for an Interior Designer (ID), we shortlisted two candidates and ultimately chose Urban Home Design (UHD) for their appealing designs that suited our taste.

All client feedback on the Qanvast app was five stars, which further influenced our decision.

The ID assigned to us, Chai Hwa, made a great first impression. During our initial meeting, she provided detailed 2D and 3D drawings based on our requirements and floor plan. We found her professionalism to be significantly better than that of our previous ID.

Throughout the process, Chai Hwa clearly explained all details and kept thorough documentation for our reference. The project timeline was well-planned and executed, allowing us to move into our new home as scheduled.

Although we encountered some defects after moving in, Chai Hwa responded quickly and arranged for contractors to address the issues promptly.

We will definitely recommend Chai Hwa to any of our friends.

Designer Chi Fung and Sin Hui

We had a wonderful experience working with Chi Fung and Sin Hui from Urban Home Design. We chose this firm because we were drawn to their natural tones and cozy design concepts, and they certainly delivered beyond our expectations.

Chi Fung and Sin Hui are incredibly creative and helpful. Throughout the renovation process, they provided thoughtful advice and practical alternatives when our initial plans needed adjustments due to site constraints. Their ability to quickly adapt and offer different choices on the spot was impressive and made the entire experience seamless.

They are also highly skilled with CAD software, which helped us visualize the design in detail before any work started, giving us peace of mind and confidence in our choices. Even after the project was completed, they followed up diligently to ensure everything was perfect.

We highly recommend Urban Home Design and especially Chi Fung and Sin Hui for anyone looking for a professional and reliable interior design team!

I had the pleasure of working with Chi Fung and Sin Hui from Urban Home Design for our recent renovation, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their work!

From the start, they showed a keen eye for design and an excellent understanding of colours that really brought our vision to life. Their material recommendations were spot on — they managed to strike a perfect balance between quality and cost, which I truly appreciated.

Both were incredibly professional throughout the entire process. They responded quickly to all our queries and ensured that we were always in the loop. Even after the project was handed over, their commitment to follow-up was outstanding. They were detail-oriented, making sure everything was perfect and addressing any minor issues that came up.

Dear James

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your exceptional work in transforming my small home. Your expertise in making the most of my 1-bedroom apartment with a study has truly made a significant difference in my daily life.

Your creative vision and attention to detail have turned my limited space into a comfortable and functional haven. I’m impressed by how you’ve maximized every corner, creating an illusion of spaciousness while maintaining a cozy atmosphere.

Your choice of colors, textures, and lighting has brought warmth and character to each room. The study, in particular, has become my favorite spot – it’s both inspiring and conducive to productivity.

Thank you for listening to my needs and preferences, and for your patience throughout the process. Your professionalism and passion for your craft are evident in the final result.

I now look forward to coming home each day to this beautifully designed space. Your work has truly enhanced my quality of life, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

We have decided to go with Urban Home Design after initially meeting up with James as he convinced us that he is the right ID to go with.

He has come up with creative ideas with 3D visualisation to demonstrate how the apartment will look like before we proceed further. He is patient and can change the design several times. When we finally started the renovation work, he is able to oversee the contractors and make sure the quality does not lapse. He finally delivers what he has designed for us and we are happy with the results.

I will strongly recommend James as the ID to work with.

Designer Chai Hwa and Vicky

We have shortlisted a few IDs and Chai Hwa and Vicky are the ones that are the most prepared in our first meeting- by coming up with different proposals from the pre-meeting questionnaire that we have filled in.

They are also able to adjust the 3D autocad drawing to our requirements on the spot.

The efforts that they have put in and attention to detail clearly stands out from the rest.

As we have a very tight deadline to move into our new home, there were concerns that our renovations cannot be completed on time. Chai Hwa and Vicky are able to ease our worries by coming up with a detailed calendar on the renovation process and constantly keep us updated on the status in our group chat. They are also very patient in addressing our changes in requests and recommend practical solutions.

The renovation was completed on time and the quality of the carpentry work was top notch. They are also very prompt and responsive in arranging and following up on the minor touch up work.

This is not our first renovation, but it is certainly our best. We are very satisfied with our new home and would recommend Chai Hwa and Vicky to our friends.

Designer Xyden and Jorlynn

Xyden and Jorlynn from Urban Home were the 3rd interior design company we met (out of 5), and they were the ones who left the deepest impressions on us. The initial meeting with them was very different (in a good way) from other ID companies.

Before the meeting, they sent out a questionnaire to understand what we we were looking out for, including our lifestyle needs. During the first meeting itself, they showed that they did take our responses into consideration and also did a lot of prep work beforehand. This includes coming out with suggested layout plans and even 3D mockups. It was also easy to connect and converse with them. Hence we decided to go with Xyden and Jorlynn.

Throughout the renovation process, Xyden and Jorlynn were very responsive, and always took our feedback into consideration and acted upon it. We felt like we could fully rely on them to handle our renovation project. After hearing many renovation horror stories from my friends, I was pleasantly surprised that my own renovation went quite smoothly under their care. They also did their best to help keep our renovation costs in control while also balancing design considerations. We valued their advice and they likewise, also valued our feedback and input.

The renovation took about 3 months, which is pretty okay given that we did quite a bit as it was an older flat. There were no major issues throughout the project, and we only spotted minor defects which they also fixed promptly after we pointed them out. The end result turned out pretty nice, and even my friends have said so!

Overall, it has been great working with Xyden and Jorlynn, and will definitely recommend them to any friends who might want to do renovation in the future.

Had engaged Urban Home with our flat renovation in Dec 2023. Among all the firms, Urban Home’s Chifung had been proactive with our requirements and we are pretty impressed with his proposed designs during our first meetup.

Subsequent meetups on the 3D is also nothing short of impressive. Renovation process was clear cut and smooth and we are pretty pleased that the flat was renovated closely to the 3D.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Chai Hwa for my interior design project, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. From the start, she was incredibly responsive, always available to answer my questions and address my concerns.

Chai’s artistic vision truly transformed my space. She has a unique ability to blend aesthetics with functionality, ensuring that every detail feels intentional and harmonious. Her sense of ownership over the project was evident; she approached it as if it were her own home, which made the entire process feel personal and collaborative.

Designer Wendy and Chai Hwa

We are beyond thrilled with the work that Wendy and Chai Hwa did for our new home! From the very beginning, they demonstrated exceptional professionalism and a genuine passion for interior design.

They were incredibly attentive to our needs and provided insightful, creative solutions for our compact living area.

One of the standout aspects of working with them was their responsiveness—no matter how small our request was, they reacted quickly and made us feel valued. They welcomed our ideas and skillfully incorporated them into the design, resulting in a harmonious space that feels both inviting and practical.

Their ability to blend new designs with our existing fittings saved us money and created a cohesive look throughout our home. The carpentry work is nothing short of outstanding; while their quotes may be on the higher side, the superb craftsmanship is absolutely worth it!

Additionally, Wendy and Chai Hwa were incredibly accommodating with our timeline, completing the project a week earlier than expected, which made our move so much easier. They also ensured seamless coordination with various contractors and followed up promptly on any minor touch-ups needed.

We can’t thank them enough for their hard work and dedication to creating a comfy, beautiful home for us. If you’re looking for talented and reliable interior designers, look no further than Wendy and Chai Hwa!

Designer Xyden

Having read many horror reno stories, we are so glad to have chosen Urban for our renovation works.

Even though we had already met quite a few ID firms, the Urban team was organized and meticulous from the first meeting (from the 3d drawings to the detailed timeline schedules) that we knew for sure we could trust them.

The project was slightly tricky as we wanted to retain some of the existing fixtures and was worried that the new design would not blend well. Xyden and Calvin were very patient and proactive in providing recommendations/alternative solutions while keeping things practical and budget-friendly (even though it meant more problems for them to contemplate). They’ve also taken the initiative to help replace/touch-up some of the existing fixtures that were worn-out. In the end the overall design was seamless and turned out to be much nicer than our expectations.

The whole renovation process was smooth with regular updates about the progress. There were no unpleasant surprises or unexpected cost overruns that we were obliged to commit to. The deliveries and coordination with other external contractors were also well-sorted out by Calvin so we didn’t have to worry at all. The workmanship is quite impressive – Besides some minor touch-up, we didn’t notice any defects at all. Xyden himself had to point out some of the areas that needed to be fixed which we thought was barely noticeable.

Thanks Xyden and Calvin for the excellent job in delivering our dream home just the way we imagined it to be.

We were very pleased with our ID, Sin Hui, who was responsive and attentive to our needs throughout the entire renovation process.

Right from the initial meeting we felt assured that Sin Hui would be able to handle and manage the project confidently. Sin Hui understood the theme that we wanted and executed it in an efficient and worry-free manner. Even when there were delays (caused by an external 3rd party), Sin Hui was very prompt in assisting us with corresponding with the 3rd party to ensure that the project gets back on track a soon as possible. We would definitely recommend Sin Hui especially to first-time home owners who are looking for a smooth renovation journey!

Designer Ah Bing & Xyden

We have now stayed in our new home for 1.5 years, and I believe it’s the perfect time to share my final verdict on Urban Home Design.

Before selecting this firm, I have visited more than 10 others, but none left a lasting impression. However, after our first meeting with our ID, Ah Bing and Xyden, we felt reassured. They presented a clear moodboard and outlined the project process, including a detailed timeline, making everything clear from the start. It’s evident they take every project seriously, which is essential for homeowners. They have provide exceptional service from the start.

Our renovation took about three months due to the year-end holidays. Despite a few inevitable hiccups, everything was swiftly resolved with minimal disruption. Even after moving in, when we requested some rectification or touch-up, they were promptly handled and completed seamlessly.

I want to express special thanks to Ah Bing for his meticulous attention to detail and immense patience throughout the project. Despite the numerous amendments I made, yet he accommodated every request with thoughtful and practical advice along the way. He constantly provided his best suggestions and personally oversaw the entire project, frequently visiting our home to ensure everything was in order.

He is accommodative to some of my small little requests which I deeply appreciated. Even when I was out of the country, he took the initiative to video call me, providing reassurance and updates that all was progressing smoothly. Given my busy schedule during day time, I have quite a few of late-night discussion with him as well, he have never once showed any sign of discomfort. His incredible work ethic is truly commendable, he will achieve great success in this industry.

In terms of workmanship, we are beyond satisfied. The quality is impeccable, and our relatives have praised both the craftsmanship and the overall aesthetic of our home, which we take great pride in.

I highly recommend Urban Home Design for anyone embarking on their renovation journey. They are reliable and professional ID firm. They made the entire renovation process smooth and stress-free as much as possible.

Designer Hoh Chi Fong

My partner and I began our renovation journey by approaching 7 interior designers (IDs) listed on Qanvast. Among these 7 IDs, we only received responses from 3 IDs with proposal and quotations. Among these 3, only Chi Fong from Urban Home Design came back with 3D drawings of renovation theme and ideas.

These were extremely helpful for us first timer in renovation journey because it allowed us to visualise the design, effective and aesthetically pleasing use of space. Decision to work with Chi Fong is an easy one.

During renovation project execution, we noticed that Chi Fong was really well-versed and adept at computer aided drawing. He was very quick in response/updating all the detailed drawings after every meeting. With his experience and expertise in interior design and adoption, he advised us on lightings position and electricity points. He was calm and able to came up with alternative solution when things didn’t go as planned.

He also helped coordinate with other contractors such as building management from first time communication engagement, detailed work to be done, until work completion. He strived to meet our timeline and work hard for it and eventually managed to deliver on time which we really appreciate. He is really open to our feedback on any aspect of the work completed, as well as to perform rework before handover.

We were really satisfied with Chi Fong an his team for their professionalism, interior design expertise, and willing to listen to our renovation ideas and feedback. If we were to have another renovation, we would definitely work with them again.

Designer Una Huang

For our existing family home renovation, we met with 2 other IDs prior to meeting Urban Home Design’s ID Una (Qianqian), which really helped highlight the extra effort that Una had put into our first consultation.

Unlike other ID firms, we first received an email with some questions regarding our renovation plans before our first meeting was scheduled. With the answers provided, Una had already prepared 3 different layout proposals and a 3D of the new proposed living room layout presented to us during our first meeting.

Una was the only ID out of the 3 we met to provide a drastically different layout from our original, which made the first consultation much more impressionable. Other IDs were conservative with the layout and kept to mostly the same as our previous layout, but the space planning that Una did was very different and truly a breath of fresh air which ultimately led us to engage her for this project.

Throughout the numerous meetings, Una was also very receptive to ideas and would often provide suggestions and advice based on our requests.

The huge array of choices in materials, like the wardrobe laminates and floor vinyls, made it a real headache for us to choose from, especially when everyone in the family had vastly different tastes. However, Una proactively selected a few to help narrow down our options, and all of it turned out beautiful in our home.

She was very responsive throughout the actual renovation process which was very reassuring. Even though we made changes here and there throughout, she was also very accommodating and helpful!

After moving in, we did spot some small workmanship issues but she was still very responsive and continues to follow-up with rectifying the issues and touching up defects.

Overall, her work ethics and easygoing personality made our first major renovation experience a great one, and I trust that anyone who works with her would certainly appreciate her reliability and professionalism as well.

We are grateful to have Una assist us on this journey to renovate our 3BR condo. Having a young family and as working parents, our meet-up schedules were very erratic but Una was very willing to accommodate and stayed up late on various occasions to run through ideas and plans with us.

She is very detailed in her design, meticulous and will provide practicable solutions based on her experience. She keeps track of our asks and offers good suggestions and ideas not just pertaining to the works but also the furniture that matches. She is able to grasp and conceptualise the style and design that we prefer. She is responsive and even after completion, on an after-sales basis she continues to follow up with the touch-ups. Great experience!

Designer Ah Bing

Like many first time homeowners in Singapore, we’ve often been faced with the decision paralysis of the sheer number of interior designers available, and had done our desk research on what was out there.

Through our findings we chanced across Urban Home Design, and like many first timers we ran the gauntlet of many meet and greets to gauge chemistry between ourselves and the team we would entrust for our first home. Ah Bing and Urban Home Design stood out for a variety of reasons.

Firstly, Ah Bing approached our project with a can-do attitude and a positive energy, which we found refreshing. It’s no secret that first time homeowners like ourselves have our demands, and are often full of ideas but have to be kept grounded by the experts. Ah Bing and the team provided that with professionalism, and whilst we modelled our dream house in a 4 room BTO in Punggol, he was there at every step of the way.

I would go into a detailed description on the service that he provided, but a lot of the reviews in the page will speak of the quality that you are looking for. Instead I will simply say this – for all that we have dreamt of for our first house, Ah Bing and the Urban Home Design Team have helped to deliver.

No design and journey will be perfect and without it’s hurdles, but what we appreciate with the benefit of hindsight is an individual and an organisation that made sure we were part of that journey, and to do so with a smile on their face and professionalism isn’t something you come across everyday.

To Ah Bing and team, thank you for the level of support you have given a first time homeowner on their journey to their dream home – we will always appreciate it.

Designer Sam / Chai Hwa

Urban stood out amongst all the IDs we’ve met by having a full design proposal in our first meeting. We were assigned Sam and Chai Hwa as our IDs. Not only did the designs proposed meet our brief and they also stuck very close to our given budget.

Another thing which sold us was their ability to make instant changes to the 3D renders based on our inputs, which was super useful for us to visualise how the space would look and whether the laminates / tiles etc paired well together.

Since it’s our first renovation experience, we were pretty clueless on many things and where to procure the various items such as lights, bathroom fixtures, curtains etc, Sam / Chai Hwa provided many vendors for our consideration and went shopping with us.

Once the renovation started, Sam managed and liaised with all our vendors regarding delivery and installation – we did not have to worry about all these details which was very helpful as we were hands full with our newborn. He also proactively helped to report to BSC when there was condensation / leaking happening outside our unit. We had a couple of things that needed changing (repositioning of electrical outlets etc) after second thoughts which he kindly accommodated. He even helped us to assemble our standing table😆

Timeline was also well managed – the work was actually completed a week ahead of schedule!

Big thank you to urban for making our first renovation experience such a great one!

Designer Amber

Me and my fiancee purchased a flat but we were both based overseas at the time. However, we wanted to time it just so when we return to Singapore, we would be able to live in the flat.

This would mean that the work would be done remotely, and we had to find an ID that we could trust as we could not be around physically. Moreover, the flat we purchased was old and a lot of works was necessary, yet we were on a budget as well.

We reached out to many IDs to discuss and out of all of them, only Amber came back to us with exactly how we imagined our new place would be and reasonably within our budget. Being able to see this idea in 3D also firmed up our confidence that this would work out.

We had asked for quite extensive works as we re-tiled all the floors, tore down walls and bought over an access balcony which we would incorporate into our new home. Amber was responsive throughout the entire process and kept us updated on every detail despite us not being physically present. She would meticulously draw up the corresponding patterns and designs in our remote meetings while keeping in mind the limitations despite not being able to pre-visit the place due to certain circumstances. I cannot imagine that this would be an easy task. Despite this, she was friendly and accomodating throughout which I deeply appreciated.

When works started in April, the actual layout of the house presented new challenges which we could not foresee, but she still managed to work with her team and us to come up with resourceful solutions that could solve our problems. She also negotiated hard with her vendors to ensure the budget was kept reasonably within our budget which again I also deeply appreciated.

Even after handover, she was still responsive, and still helped us with matching furniture choices even when there is no obligation, going above and beyond in my opinion.

If you want a reliable, responsible and resourceful ID, look no further than Urban Design and Amber.

Designer James

We met with at least 8 different IDs from different firms before I found James. A common problem that I have with the IDs I met was the lack of creative/design factor. They tend to give me a design based on my brief with very minimal creative inputs from them.

Our new place was a 1+S and for a small space, we needed someone creative so that we have enough storage without the house looking cramped. However, majority of the IDs I met with was lacking that creativity. For instance, they will find a space to park a study table and would expect us to work w wherever the study table fits or request that we sacrifice part of the living room to make space for a study table.

But James was so well prepared on our very first meeting. I gave him a brief prior our meeting and on the day I met him, he came prepared with 3 different proposals, complete with recommended materials for the carpentry. That was very impressive and says alot about his work attitude.

After our first meeting, he also followed up by sending me various designs that fitted the aesthetic that we were looking for. Along the way, we met up several times to finalise our design. Even though we made several changes along the way (which involved him having to re-do the entire design), he was patient and accommodating. He was also able to propose creative solutions to some of our unreasonable requests.

During the renovation, he also keep us updated by sending us pictures of the renovation. He was also very hands on and would be onsite to check on the renovations.

It was a blessing for us to have him and we were able to meet the timeline to shift in.

Almost all of our friends and family were impressed with the final product. They loved the overall aesthetic and some of our unique features. In fact, some of them were already asking for James’ contact.

Would definitely recommend James’ service if you are looking to start your own renovation journey

Designer James and Chai Hwa

We met James and Chai Hwa (J & CH) after meeting with around 5 other designers. At first we didn’t think we would go with them because we were quite far into discussions with another designer but by chance the meeting we had with them really won us over.

Unlike the other firms we met, they had already done up a 3D SketchUp design. Not just one design proposal but two proposals! What’s more impressive was the fact we went into the meeting not expecting to engage them but they really won us over with their patience, their ability to make changes to the designs immediately and also for the fact they didn’t agree to everything – some might think it’s a bad thing but they gave their views on what might work what might not. Many IDs might promise you everything can be done but don’t necessarily consider the implementation and impact to other aspects of the work but J & CH gave their honest opinions and offered alternative suggestions which made more sense. Mind you this was all in the first meeting alone – there were many afterwards and they were always patient and accommodating and also honest with their views.

Whilst no one or no company is perfect, they were a perfect fit for us after all was said and done.

Truth be told, if we went with another firm many of our ideas and requests might not have happened. We made many changes along the way and J & CH were 100% accommodating and truly on top of everything.

As first timers engaging IDs we panicked about everything and we were worried our requests were not registered but we were always pleasantly surprised when the next time we asked for an update the job/task we had asked for was already done. Some might think this is a problem with communication but this was the only “problem” we really had with them – where they would complete the task without an update and we would still be worried it wasn’t done. So really this is the best type of “problem” to have, a team that does their job silently and successfully (without blowing any whistles or hot air).

The process of renovation is stressful with or without an ID but we 100% appreciated that we were fortunate to have crossed paths with J and CH because they delivered everything we wanted and did so very professionally.

Ours was a big project and we are extremely grateful to them for managing everything so well and closely.

In summary, James & Chai Hwa really were a dream team to work with. They gel well together and were able to understand our ideas quickly and help conceptualise it. Most importantly, they were always on-top of all the nitty gritty details and tasks and made sure everything was done properly.

Even within the warranty period, whenever there were issues they were quick to arrange a follow-up. Even to this date (almost 1 year later) they’re still prompt with their replies and truly this is what matters at the end of the day. A reliable trustworthy ID and I believe Urban Home Design represents this very well!

Thanks James & Chai Hwa!

Designer Sin Hui

I had the pleasure of working with Sin Hui from Urban Home Design and it was a wonderful and stress-free renovation journey.

At the beginning when we were discussing the design, it was an open two-way communication. Talking through what I wanted and the relative pros and cons helped in firming up what would best suit my lifestyle. The detailed drawings also provided visual assurance that there wouldn’t be awkward scenarios of e.g. doors hitting ceiling fans.

Moving on to the preparation phase, I thought Sin Hui was very patient and resourceful. Upon my request, she accompanied me to various stores to select items, and also provided cheaper suggestions to keep the renovation within budget. This was very helpful as it’s easy to get lost and confused amongst all the options available. Further, she was well prepared for our appointments e.g. when we were deciding on the laminates, she would short-list a few in advance, which made the process very time-efficient.

When renovation started, Sin Hui provided updates on the progress and responded promptly to any queries I had. I didn’t have to drop by too often and could spend my time handling the non-reno aspects of the house. As with any renovation journey there were a few minor hiccups, but these were quickly resolved; Sin Hu would inform me of the issues and also offered some suggestions to resolve it. This made the renovation journey less stressful and more manageable.

On the whole, Urban Home Design’s workmanship was good; I had a few carpentry works and others, which turned out beautifully. The project was completed on time and within budget. I’m very pleased with the final outcome and would recommend Sin Hui and Urban Home Design to anyone looking for an ID to renovate their homes.

Designer Amber

I recently had the pleasure of working with Urban Home Design, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From the very start, Amber was incredibly attentive, often going above and beyond to ensure our apartment turned out beautifully.

Their attention to detail was remarkable—sometimes more so than ours!

The workmanship was top-notch, and every element of the design was executed with precision and care. We were particularly impressed with how they provided expert suggestions on furniture colors and styles, making the whole process smooth and stress-free.

One standout feature was their 3D service. As we were working remotely from overseas, being able to visualize our space through detailed 3D models was invaluable. It allowed us to make informed decisions and feel confident about our choices without having to see the place in person.

Overall, Urban Home Design delivered an exceptional experience, and I highly recommend them for anyone looking to bring their vision to life with professionalism and creativity.

Designer Chi Fung and Janet

I recently had my BTO flat renovated by Urban Home Design, and I am happy with the results. The ID in-charge of my project are Chifung and Janet and they are great in terms of patience and professionalism.

They completed the project on time and within budget. I would like to recommend them to my friends!

Design/3D drawings/Communication

Chifung and Janet listened carefully to our ideas and created a cozy and functional space that perfectly matched our style. They were quick to address any concerns or questions I had. The 3D models had been synchronized with our discussion and I feel really helpful in visualizing the end result. My husband and I had been changing our minds throughout the entire planning stage but they were always listening to us and provided solutions or ideas to address concerns.

Quality of Work

Overall quality was good. The material provided is in line with the offer and installed with acceptable workmanship. They are willing to correct or redo when we are not satisfied with the result.

Flexibility

They are flexible as we are purchasing quite a lot of items from overseas and they are providing us suggestions and also arranged contractors to install. that’s very important to us in both design and budget control.

Post-Renovation

Follow-Up They addressed a few of issues with the cabinetry promptly and without any hassle. Now we had moved in and we wish to extend the pleasant experience with them through the warranty period.

Suggestions:

1. Time line is overall met but hope they can provide us more updates especially for the first few weeks which seemed very quiet and we had no idea if we would get the whole project completed on time.

2. Price is overall within budget but wish they can be more careful to avoid mistakes.

Designer Una Huang

Una was our designer for our 3br condo. On our first meeting with her, she was very meticulous and detailed in her discussion with us and stayed till late.

She is also prompt and responsive and gives good advice. She is very knowledgeable and is able to answer our queries very quickly. She is also able to accommodate our minor changes. Our home is nicely renovated, credits to her and she would also be helping with the touch ups post handover.

Designer Jess Fu

We had a wonderful experience working with Chi Fung and Sin Hui from Urban Home Design. We chose this firm because we were drawn to their natural tones and cozy design concepts, and they certainly delivered beyond our expectations.

Design phase:

During the first few design appointments, Jess was able to capture our ideas in her 2D drawings and provide useful suggestions to improve our layout to our needs. As first-time home owners, she was very patient in clarifying our deluge of questions and walked us through the key milestones of a renovation process, even before we have confirmed proceeding with her as our designer. We also like how she has been very upfront and transparent about the pros and cons eg budget considerations, aesthetics vs functionality as we deliberate on designs and align expectations on what could be achieved.

What went well:

Updating quotation: When we started renovation, she was meticulous in ensuring every design item is feasible e.g., made changes to dimensions along the way to ensure enough space was accounted for the wine fridge.

Communication with contractors and vendors: We placed a lot of faith in Jess to manage the contractors eg scheduling and liaising with vendors for deliveries and she has delivered in all occasions. Limited need for us to intervene and make separate arrangements.

Timeline management: It was commendable that Jess and her team managed to adhere to the original renovation schedule and even handed over nearly a week earlier than expected.

Floor works: One big plus in terms of works done was the tiling. We redid the tiling for the entire house, including the living, dining, and bed rooms, and the toilet floors and walls – workmanship was consistent, solid and beautiful.

What can be improved:

Toilet door frame: One of our biggest regrets is changing the toilet door and frames from the default bifold to proper swing doors. Workmanship was sorely lacking – frames were misaligned, doors were misaligned with uneven gaps between door and frame, hinge screws were improperly drilled, and wall surfaces next to the frames were shoddily patched and uneven. The door contractor’s only excuse was that HDB walls are not straight, but you don’t see such defects on HDB’s original toilet & bedroom door frames. Sadly it seems to be a common problem in renovation works.

Carpentry: Another problem we realized was slight problems with the carpentry, especially in spots where they are not directly visible – we saw additional erroneously-drilled holes into the sauce pullout and some rusting that happened even before the handover.

Windows: The new toilet top-hung windows were heavily scratched and did not look new at all. We had to compromise with a layer of spray-coated paint.

Communication: Although we would have appreciated more regular photo or video updates of progress and receipt of items, it was a rather smooth process throughout. We would also have preferred seeing more of her presence at the unit but we also noted her efforts to video call the contractors to ensure installations were done properly.

All in all, design is Jess and Urban Home’s strong suit. Design details and drawings were meticulous and on point. For physical execution of the renovation works, it wouldn’t hurt for you as the homeowner to keep an eye on it regularly, especially if you are the type to focus on the finer aspects of workmanship.

Designer Una & Shawn

Designer Amber Yanlin

Amber was the interior designer of our new home and our experience with her has been spectacular. She was meticulous in her work and displayed a keen sense of aesthetics and practicality to suit our wants and needs.

A passing question I asked lead to Amber going the extra mile and exploring new ideas, which in turn resulted in what we eventually have today, a beautiful house. She shows great enthusiasm in her job and is hardworking to the point that sometimes I feel bad for asking so much from her. Nonetheless, she has constantly delivered and resolved any issues we encountered and has exceeded my expectations. 10/10, if I had another house I would look for her again. Thank you Amber and Urban Home Design!

Designer Chai Hwa

We recently had the pleasure of working with Urban and ID Chai Hwa for our home renovation, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and results.

From the very first meeting, Chai Hwa’s responsiveness and professionalism stood out. Unlike other designers we met, Chai Hwa impressed us right away with her AutoCAD design, giving us a clear and detailed vision of our renovation project from the get-go. Seeing such a well-prepared design at the first meeting left us both impressed and excited.

Throughout the process, Chai Hwa demonstrated exceptional dedication. We went through several rounds of meetings to refine the designs and drawings, and each session was productive and satisfying. Her attention to detail and willingness to listen to our feedback ensured that every aspect of the design met our expectations.

The renovation timeline was well-managed, with minimal delays. We had complete trust in Chai Hwa, who consistently went the extra mile to assist with various aspects of the renovation. She accompanied us to select home items, providing valuable design advice and ensuring that our choices aligned with the overall vision of the project. Her support didn’t stop there; during the renovation, she closely monitored the progress and kept us updated on the timeline and schedule.

Chai Hwa’s commitment to excellence and her proactive approach made the entire renovation process smooth and stress-free. Her ability to blend creative design with practical solutions was truly commendable. We are thrilled with the final outcome and grateful for the exceptional service provided by Chai Hwa and Urban and ID.

If you’re looking for a renovation company that combines innovation, reliability, and outstanding customer service, we highly recommend Urban and ID Chai Hwa. Their dedication to client satisfaction and their expertise in design and project management make them a top choice for any renovation project.
